Terms of Service

Last Updated: August 07, 2026

By purchasing, downloading, or using Backspace (the “Software”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, do not use the Software.

In these Terms, “we” and “us” refer to Aura Company, the developer and distributor of Backspace. Standalone website purchases are processed by Paddle, while Mac App Store purchases are processed by Apple.

License Scope

We grant you a non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the Software on a single macOS device per license purchased. This license is valid for the lifetime of the Software product. “Lifetime” means as long as we continue to support and update the Software, and does not refer to your personal lifetime or the lifetime of your device.

Device Use

Your purchase is verified using a License Identifier and a Device Identifier (Unique Hardware ID) associated with your Mac.

This license permits the Software to be actively used on one device at a time.

Restrictions

You agree not to do, or attempt to do, any of the following:

  • Redistribute, resell, lease, or sublicense the Software.
  • Reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble the Software.
  • Use the Software to build competitive products.
  • Bypass, modify, or interfere with the license verification mechanism.

Ownership

The Software is protected by copyright laws. We reserve all rights not expressly granted to you in these Terms.

You acknowledge that the Software uses system APIs and proprietary system behavior, and we are not liable for changes to the operating system that may impact the Software’s functionality.

Backspace is an independent macOS application and is not affiliated with Apple Inc. Apple, macOS, and the Mac App Store are trademarks of Apple Inc.

Warranties

The Software is provided “as is,” without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including, but not limited to, the implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Software will be error-free or uninterrupted.

Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we shall not be liable for any damages, whether direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential, including damages for loss of profits, business interruption, or loss of data, arising from the use of or inability to use the Software.
