Welcome to Backspace, a utility designed exclusively for macOS. Our goal is to enhance your Mac experience with live wallpapers for your desktop and lockscreen that feel smooth, native, and visually polished. Backspace is developed and distributed by Aura Company.

Your privacy is paramount. This Policy is based on the principle of privacy by design, ensuring that data collection is limited to what is necessary for license management, security, and anonymous wallpaper rankings. By using the App, you agree to the terms outlined below.

2. Information We Collect and Purpose

We collect limited information for licensing and access management and anonymous wallpaper engagement data.

License and Purchase Identifiers: We store the license key and limited Paddle identifiers required to confirm your purchase, deliver your license, and validate its status. They are stored in a secure, private database.

Device Identifier (Unique Hardware ID): This ID is a non-personal, hardware identifier of your Mac. Its sole purpose is to associate the license with one specific device for license enforcement. It is stored in a secure, private database, mapped to your License Identifier.

Purchase Email and Payment Information: Paddle processes payments and card details. Aura Company receives and stores your email address and the limited purchase identifiers needed to deliver your license, maintain access, and provide support. We do not receive or store complete payment card details.

Anonymous Wallpaper Interactions: To calculate public like counts and the Popular and Trending sections, the App may send a wallpaper's stable ID together with an interaction type such as like, unlike, download, or apply. These events include a random installation identifier used to prevent duplicate counting and synchronize local favorites. This identifier is not derived from your hardware, license key, Apple account, email, or wallpaper file name. We do not collect search text, precise location, or a history of videos you play outside Backspace.

3. How We Use Your Information

The information we collect is used exclusively for:

• License Validation: Verifying your status as a paid user during initial activation and periodic license checks.
• Access Management: Ensuring continuous access to the full features of the App on your authorized device.
• Wallpaper Discovery: Producing aggregate like counts and ranking wallpapers in Popular and Trending sections.

4. Third-Party Services Involved

We rely on specialized third-party services for licensing, updates, wallpaper delivery, and anonymous aggregate rankings.

Paddle (Payment Processor): Manages all purchase transactions and provides the limited purchase information required for license delivery and validation.

License Verification Server: Our server handles secure communication to verify your license status.

Update Server: Used solely to host update files via Sparkle. This service does not interact with personal data.

5. Data Security and Transmission

Your License Identifier is stored locally on your Mac to avoid repetitive manual entry. Data transmission between the App and our servers is encrypted. Anonymous wallpaper interaction records are separated from license and purchase records and use the random installation identifier described above.

6. Your Rights and Data Deletion

You have the right to access, correct, or request the deletion of your data held by us. To request permanent deletion, contact us using the information in Section 7.
